God rests in the collection plate,
With the nickels and IOU's.
And empty prayers are assigned their fate,
By the merit this lie's accrued:
"God Almighty make us brave,
And help us through our days.
Or don't, if you choose, and we will say,
'He works in mysterious ways.'"
