I Found a Heart Today
I found a heart today.
(By accident, certainly)
Tucked away.
Hidden.
Placed between one blank sheet
and another.
My intentions were not
to find it.
(I tell you the truth)
My intentions were
to find,
or try to find,
a single blank page to write in.
Not about love.
(Quite the contrary,
really)
I was not to write
About love
Oh, no,
for I don’t really know
what love is.
But,
I found a heart today.
Tucked away.
Waiting.
Between one blank sheet
and another,
for me to open and see.
(And read)
'I love you.
Wow!'
I found a heart today.
And smiled.
For I don’t really know
quite whose it is.
Or,
how to give it back.
But,
I found it.
So,
I suppose,
I could keep it.
Tucked away.
(Of course)
