Hope: What is It?
She asks him
if it’s
possible,
if there really is
a beacon
in the distance.
It’s radiating
warmth,
shining like a star,
guiding
sailors
home.
But he knows
not
for he
has only seen
the reflection
off the water,
mere glimpses
of the true
light.

I wrote this after the death of my grandma, and I still recall the period of grief I'm sure many of us can relate to now. I wrote this poem after I remembered what she thought hope should look like, and it helped me get through that tough time. My wish for you readers is that if you aren't in such a good place, please take a minute to contemplate my words, and perhaps, that will help you as it did me.
